Laundry & Other various & sundry trip-prep tasks....
Selfie of Brian and me at last evenings free outdoor community concert.
Trip preparations start in earnest today. Brian went to the pharmacy to pick up one of his prescriptions that was due for a refill, & I did two loads of " trip laundry. Since we are driving halfway, stopping at my brother's house in Atlanta over Tuesday night { our rental starts on WEDNESDAY, so we get a break if we leave early on Tuesday]
I'm hoping that these will be the final two laundry loads I must do before our departure.
We still need to pack our toiletries & computer bags--- those will be the last bags filled.
Brian and I will each carry a backpack with our personal items... including rain gear, my Book of Common Prayer , some writing utensils, and my journal. I'm choosing to NOT carry a purse, the backpack is much more practical for hiking, and has a spot for a reusable water bottle.
Our spare bedroom, which is sort of a junk-collection space in our house anyway, is central Supplies for this year's North Carolina Adventure.
We have the groceries, including the adult beverages, carefully packed in hardy reusable shopping bags, organized on the bed { there are grocery stores located " down the mountain, in Banner Elk, NC, but it is nice to start with a full refrigerator & pantry} We are carrying our shoes in a separate bag... I'm taking only my hiking shoes and a pair of sandals{ which I will wear for the trips there & back home}
The North Carolina High Country is cooler than we Floridians usually expect in June, so I also bought myself { with the generous gift of a Target gift card from my Christian Education department at church} an adorable " distressed look" denim jacket . It will be a great layering piece for the cooler mountain mornings & evenings & also will be an asset during Florida's " cold season". the " washed and distressed" denim look was popular when I was a teen- it is one of the precious few returning trends I will wear as a middle-aged woman.
Tomorrow's task will center on getting our dog ready for his adventure at the boarder's.
Shalom...
~Mac
