" Anne-Lynne" & "St Chris" are Ready!

This is not a very good photo but meet " Anne-Lynne" She's a hand-made " raggedy Ann" rag doll who joined the family last December. Her creator is a local woman who makes ADORABLE rag dolls of all genders and colors & cute accessories for them.  She is named for my Grandma Anne & also a dear friend. Both women died during the Pandemic. She travels with us. North Carolina will be her first sojourn out of Florida.

This is " Chris", the travel ambassador who gets to travel on several trips per year with parishioners of our church.  He is not thrilled about sharing the travel duty with a rag doll, but he will adjust. Chris went to Beech Mountain last year with us & is looking forward to te trip again this year.

Today at Target I found an adorable " washed" denim jacket that will be the perfect piece with which to layer during the trip. Beech Mountain is almost one mile high-- and nearby Grandfather Mountain IS one mile high, so I know I need to layer in mornings & evenings. {I'm thin and have low blood pressure, so I'm always cold-- even in hot & humid Florida. Pensacola is home, but to be honest, summers' humidity can be oppressive to someone who loves being outdoors

Regarding my commitment to " sabbatical" I do not see this travel log project as ' work'. Susan+s advice for honoring our own sabbatical time this summer included the advice do that thing that brings you joy.  For me, storytelling and photography bring me A LOT of joy. Since I'm removing the {occasionally stressful} use of social media -- any media-- from my time in the mountains, I can focus on my writing  and my photography .

My priest & me. Easter Sunday 2022.  Taking my own sabbatical { such as it is} at the same time as hers is a blessing After two years of insanity and lack of connection, we all crave meaningful experiences.  Photo by Brian.

Brian & me last year at one of our hiking spots. I am hoping to show him even more of the wonder that is the Western NC High Country this year.  He made the hiking sticks we use from things e purchased at Lowe's. { Hiking sticks bought through outdoors outfitting stores are insanely pricey.} Photos by us .

That is all for now, friends. Stay tuned here for more adventures.

Shalom...
