Harry is ready for { doggy} Camp

                                                  " Prince Harry" our dog.

 I got the dog's bag packed. When we are out of town, Harry goes to the boarders' -- who is also our veterinarian.  Every other dog I've loved HATED going to boarding and/ or the vet, but our silly Harry Hound LOVES going there.  The assistants spoil him with affection & treats & he gets the run of the big fenced-in yard each day-- weather permitting of course.

 I packed his food, his blanket and at least one tennis ball.  There is a bedtime crate that is " his" when he stays at camp. thankfully, our canine child does well with both people & other dogs, so he enjoys his " camp" experience. Plus, he knows that Mom & Dad will return to take him home.

 The last time we boarded him, he was reluctant to leave-- he gave Dr E-- our vet-- extra good-bye cuddles.

 It's also nice to be able to re-enter real life with a tired Harry-- a tired hound is a happy hound.

Brian & I are grateful for the staff at Gull Point Animal Hospital here in town. They take care of Harry's medical & boarding needs.  Our doggy doc in Navarre is wonderful, but that is a LONG trek {especially with gas prices as they are now-- which is due to corporate greed & NOT the President! }

Tomorrow, Brian & I will strategically pack the truck-- we need to make room for Harry during the short ride to camp Thankfully, it is not supposed to rain { but we'll see} so the two BIG suitcases will ride in the bed of the truck until we deliver Harry to camp.  We had hoped to drop him off today, but they had not a bed { no room at the inn!} until tomorrow. That is fine, since we'd originally asked for a drop-off for tomorrow. We'll be in the parking lot at 0800 sharp tomorrow , deliver the dog, re-pack our stuff, and drive out.

One of the nice parts about taking the drive to Beech Mountain over two days is that we can take our time getting to my brother's place in Atlanta. Our rental on Beech does not begin until 1600 hour on Wednesday, so we can again travel there at a comfortable pace. Last year we all got to Beech a bit too soon, so we sat outside as the cleaning service finished their job.  Knowing this, we can pace ourselves and not stress about beating the clock.

One more " sleep "until vacation officially begins.  I just hope the world does not blow up during my media-free time in the mountains.
